How to Choose a Digital Agency in Qatar — 7 Questions to Ask Before You Sign

Not all digital agencies in Qatar are equal. Here is a practical framework for evaluating and choosing the right partner for your business.

Qatar's digital agency market has grown significantly in recent years. That is good news for businesses — more competition means more options and better pricing. But it also means more variation in quality, and choosing the wrong agency can cost you months of delays, wasted budget, and a product that doesn't deliver results. These 7 questions will help you separate serious agencies from the rest.

1. Can you show me work similar to what I need?

Any agency worth hiring has a portfolio. Ask to see live, working examples of projects similar to yours — not mockups or screenshots, but real URLs you can visit and test. An agency that has built 10 e-commerce stores knows things that an agency building their first one does not. Relevant experience matters.

2. Who will actually be working on my project?

Some agencies win the pitch with their senior team, then hand the project to junior staff or overseas freelancers. Ask specifically: who is the developer? Who is the designer? Will I have a dedicated project manager? Can I meet them before signing? A reputable agency will not hesitate to introduce you to the people who will build your product.

3. What does the timeline look like, in writing?

Vague timelines are a red flag. A professional agency will give you a clear project plan with milestones: design review by week 2, development complete by week 6, testing and launch by week 8. Get this in writing before you sign. Agencies that resist putting timelines in writing are telling you something important about how they operate.

4. Do you build bilingual (Arabic/English)?

In Qatar, your digital product must work in both Arabic and English. This is not just about translation — it means proper RTL (right-to-left) layout support, Arabic font selection, and testing on real Arabic user flows. Many agencies claim they do Arabic but deliver poor RTL implementations that feel broken to native Arabic speakers. Ask to see a live Arabic example from their portfolio.

5. What happens after launch?

A website is not a one-time deliverable — it needs hosting, security updates, content changes, and ongoing improvements. Ask what post-launch support looks like: is there a maintenance plan? What is included? What are the hourly rates for changes? An agency that disappears after delivery is not a partner — they are a contractor. You want a partner.

6. Who owns the code and the domain?

This is critical and often overlooked. When the project is delivered, you must own: the domain name (registered in your name), the hosting account, and the source code. Some agencies retain ownership of the code or host your site on their own accounts, creating dependency. Always insist on full ownership transfer at project completion. Get this in the contract.

7. Can I speak to a previous client?

A confident agency will offer references without hesitation. If an agency deflects this question or says their clients prefer privacy, that tells you something. A 10-minute call with a previous client will tell you more about how an agency actually operates than any sales pitch or portfolio ever could.

"The right agency is not the cheapest one or the one with the fanciest office. It is the one that communicates clearly, shows you relevant work, introduces you to the team, and gives you ownership of everything they build. That combination is rarer than it should be — but it exists."
